Braising is an often overlooked technique for preparing green beans, but it's a game-changer. These beans will make you rethink your cooking methods. They turn tender and moist, absorbing delicious flavors from the tomatoes while maintaining a satisfying crunch

All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwaves and home kitchens to make sure they work — and work well.

To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Dish

The Medium Shallow Dish

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (75g) cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 2 cups (185g) green beans, halved
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon chili flakes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons dill, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons black olives, pitted and halved

Preparation

  1. Add all the ingredients except the dill and olives into the Anyday dish and mix to combine. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
  2. Cover and cook for 5 minutes, or until green beans are tender. Allow to rest for 1 minute with the lid on to finish cooking through.
  3. Mix in the dill and olives.

Serving suggestions & tips

  • Try using diced heirloom tomatoes instead of cherry tomatoes.
  • Add feta cheese for pockets of creamy saltiness.
  • Try it with basil, parsley, or chives.

Recipe notes

  • If using frozen beans, cook them from frozen for the same amount of time.
  • Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
