Is silicone just another plastic?
No — silicone isn't the same material as conventional plastic. Most plastics are petroleum-based polymers that can soften, warp, or degrade with heat. Silicone is made primarily from silicon (derived from sand), oxygen, and small amounts of carbon and hydrogen, which makes it far more heat-stable and chemically inert.
