News Tips & Techniques The Ultimate Guide for Cleaning Anyday Microwave-Safe Cookware

No matter how many mouths you’re feeing, it can feel like a full time job whipping up three (or more!) meals at home every day. Isn’t it amazing how quickly the sink can fill up, turning a productive day into a mountain of bulky pots, pans, and dishes waiting to be cleaned? Even if you have a dishwasher, keeping your kitchen clean takes a lot of time and effort.

Anyday dishes were designed with this challenge in mind — not only are they incredibly easy to clean, but they result in fewer dishes. You can prep, cook, serve, and store leftovers all in the same vessel, avoiding unnecessary dirty dishes. Plus, while your food is cooking (hands-free!) in the microwave, use that free time to wipe up the counter and put away ingredients as you go. Here’s a fun trick: try using the microwave countdown as a timer!

Let’s dive into more ways you can keep your Anyday dishes clean so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more on the things that really matter:

Why glass cookware?

Anyday cookware is made of borosilicate glass, a high-quality material that is food safe, non-toxic, and non-porous, meaning that it’s very resistant to scorching, scratches, or burns. All of these factors make borosilicate glass incredibly easy to clean and maintain for years to come.

Another key factor that makes Anyday easy to clean is its smooth-sided interior. The slippery surface area and a non-porous material means that food doesn’t have much to cling to. Even those stubborn bits that seem to stay on after a round in the dishwasher will eventually come off with a few easy swipes.

Whether you're washing by hand or using the dishwasher, here’s how to keep your Anyday dishes sparkling clean and safe from scratches:

How to wash your Anyday dishes by hand

Step 1: Rinse right after use

Unless you’re planning on storing leftovers in your Anyday dish (which you absolutely should!), we recommend rinsing the dishes right after use. Compost any large food bits and use warm water to wash away any remaining residue. Even if you decide to set that dish down in the sink to deal with later, this simple step will make deep cleaning much easier.

Step 2: Get rid of stuck-on food

Have some stubborn stuck-on bits? No problem! Try these tricks using natural kitchen ingredients:

  • Baking Soda Paste: Baking soda as mildly abrasive qualities, making it perfect for stubborn food stains and also is a great odor neutralizer. Mix baking soda with a little water to make a paste. Apply it to the problem area, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub with a soft sponge.
  • Vinegar Soak: Vinegar is highly acidic, making it a naturally powerful cleaning agent. Fill the dish with equal parts water and white vinegar. Let it soak for a few hours (or overnight), then scrub and rinse.
  • Lemon Juice: Don’t like the smell of vinegar? Lemon juice works just the same! Squeeze some lemon juice on the stain, sprinkle with salt, and let it sit for a few minutes. Scrub and rinse.

Step 3: Use mild dish soap

Apply a small amount of mild dish soap to your Anyday dish. Make sure to use a soft sponge to avoid scratching the surface. Gently scrub the dish and coat it completely in soap suds, paying attention to any stubborn spots or stains.

Step 4: Rinse thoroughly

Once you’re done scrubbing, carefully rinse the soapy dish under warm running water to wash away all the soap. Take extra care during this step as glass can become very slippery under running water.

Step 5: Let dry completely

Let your clean dish air dry on a rack or use a clean kitchen towel to dry it off. This helps prevent water spots and gets your dish ready for its next use.

Step 6: Don’t forget the lid

Paying attention to the cleanliness of your Anyday’s lid is essential! It’s lined with silicone, a porous material, which makes makes it more likely to trap water and hide food bits. Be sure to inspect the rim frequently. If you spy any mold or grime, use a small brush and gently scrub the area with dish soap or a baking soda paste to remove stains. Dry the lid completely with a dry towel or on a dish rack to air dry completely.

Anyday microwave cookware is dishwasher-safe

Good news if you don’t want to hand wash! Anyday dishes and lids are dishwasher-safe, making cleanup even more convenient. We actually prefer this method as its the most effective way to remove grease stains and keep the frosted glass looking brand-new.

Here's how to use your dishwasher to clean your Anyday dishes:

  1. Rinse your Anyday dish under running water to get rid of any large food debris.
  2. Place the Anyday dish and lids in your dishwasher.
  3. Use a mild dishwasher detergent suitable for your dishwasher.
  4. Run the dishwasher on a regular cycle with a normal or gentle setting.
  5. Once the cycle is complete, remove your clean Anyday dish and lid from the dishwasher.
  6. Make they are completely dry before storing or using them again.

More tips to keep your Anyday dishes in great shape

Here are a few more tips to maintaining your set for the long haul:

  • Skip the abrasive scouring pads and harsh chemicals — with long-term use, they can damage your dish.
  • Finding grease stains on the frosted glass? This could be due to hard water deposits from your dishwasher. Try using a commercial rinse aid or wash the dish by hand using a solution of vinegar and water. The vinegar should break down the grease with a gentle scrub.
  • Don’t expose your dishes to extreme temperature changes, as it can cause thermal shock and break the glass. For example, don’t take the dish from a piping hot oven (yes, Anyday dishes are oven-safe!) to a cold marble counter surface without a trivet or hotpad.
  • To prevent odor build-up (which can happen when moisture is trapped inside), consider storing dishes with the lids slightly ajar or even separately on a dish rack. We prefer using dish protectors and lid organizers to keep everything tidy in the cabinet.
  • Check your dishes regularly for any signs of wear or damage. If you see cracks, chips, or discoloration, it’s time for a new dish!
