Microwave Caramel Sauce
Forget about thermometers and sticky pots! Anyday makes the perfect caramel with little-to-no effort. It’s as simple as adding all of the ingredients to the dish and cooking it in the microwave — seriously.
The beauty of this recipe is that, if you continue cooking for a few extra minutes you’ll end up with a chewy caramel, perfect for candies. Wrap squares of caramel in parchment paper and give them as gifts!
All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwave and home kitchens to make sure they work—, and work well. Unless specified otherwise, all recipes should be cooked at full power.

The Small Dish
This dish’s superpower is evenly heating leftovers and cooking small portions.
The Anyhand Mitts
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ cup (50g) dark brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- ¼ teaspoon kosher or flaky salt
Preparation
For the caramel sauce:
- Add all ingredients to the Anyday dish and stir to combine.
- Cover with lid (knob lifted) and cook in the microwave for 1 minute, or until the ingredients bubble, the sugar is fully dissolved, and the ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Cool slightly before using, then save refrigerated for up to 1 month.
For chewy caramel:
- Add all ingredients to the Anyday dish and stir to combine.
- Cook for 1:30-2 minutes, or until the mixture looks thick and almost foamy. It should be slowly bubbling — take care when transferring the dish from the microwave. If resting the dish, place it on a heat-proof surface.
- Once cooked, pour the caramel into a parchment-lined tray. Sprinkle some flaky salt and allow the candies to fully set before cutting them into pieces.
