To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Dish

The Large Deep Dish

Ingredients

  • 4 oz spaghetti, broken in half
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 4 oz feta
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Preparation

  1. Break the pasta in half (sorry, Italy) and place it along with the water in the Anyday dish, ensuring the water covers the pasta completely. Gently stir the pasta in the water to prevent the noodles from sticking together as they cook.
  2. Stir in the cherry tomatoes, butter, garlic, and feta in the Anyday dish with the pasta and water. Cover with lid (knob lifted).
  3. Cook in the microwave for 13-14 minutes.
  4. Toss the pasta to combine the feta with the remaining starchy pasta water. (It will thicken and coat the noodles with a creamy sauce.)
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Suggestions

  • Swap spaghetti for your favorite pasta shape.
  • Add capers, olives, and anchovies for a puttanesca-style sauce.
  • Add some basil or ready-made pesto for extra flavor.

Recipe Notes

  • When reheating leftovers, sprinkle 1-2 tablespoons of water into the dish to create steam and slightly loosen the sauce.
  • Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
