This delicious stew boasts a lineup of ingredients that are outstanding in their own right, and when brought together, they create an unforgettable dish. Tomatoes, sausage, bacon, and carefully selected seasonings harmonize to create a flavorful broth in which couscous thrives. Meanwhile, the seafood is masterfully steamed to perfection within this aromatic medley of ingredients, resulting in a delicious and gratifying meal.
All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwave and home kitchens to make sure they work— and work well. Unless specified otherwise, all recipes should be cooked at full power.

Ingredients
- ¼ cup (30g) yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1 strip thick-cut bacon, cut into small pieces
- 1 andouille sausage, sliced
- 1/2 cup (75g) Yukon gold potatoes, cut into roughly 1” cubes
- ½ cup (125ml) crushed tomatoes
- ½ cup (60ml) chicken stock or clam juice
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire® sauce
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce sauce
- ¼ cup (35g) pearl or Israeli couscous
- 2 shrimp, peeled
- 2 scallops, cleaned and quartered
- 1 soft shell crab, cut into quarters or crab legs
- Halved cherry tomatoes, for garnish (optional)
- Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Preparation
- Add the onion, bacon, sausage, and potatoes to the Anyday and stir to combine. Cover with lid (knob lifted).
- Cook in the microwave for 2-3 minutes, or until the bacon is partially rendered.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, chicken stock, salt, garlic powder, paprika, Worcestershire, hot sauce, and pearled couscous and stir to combine. Place the seafood on top of the couscous, nestling into the sauce.
- Continue cooking for 5-6 minutes, or until the liquids come to a simmer and the couscous is tender but still has a bite.
- Allow to rest for 2-5 minutes. Serve with chopped parsley and cherry tomatoes, if desired.
Serving suggestions & tips
- Add grated fresh ginger to the broth for extra flavor.
- Top with a poached egg for extra richness.
Recipe notes
- Substitute water with dashi or chicken or vegetable stock for extra flavor.
- If you don’t have Momofuku Savory Salt, use a mixture of equal amounts of salt and black pepper to replace the indicated amount per serving.
- Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
