To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Dish

The Small Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 (8oz) wheel brie cheese

Preparation

  1. Using a sharp knife, score the top of the cheese in a grid pattern. This will allow the cheese to melt evenly and keep its shape.
  2. Place the brie in the Anyday Dish and cover with lid (knob lifted).
  3. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is soft when gently pressed. Chef halfway into the cooking until the right softness is reached.
  4. Allow to rest for 10-15 seconds. Serve warm with crackers, toasted bread, or veggies.

Suggestions

  • Fig & Walnut: In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup fig spread, 1/4 cup chopped walnuts and 1 teaspoon lemon zest. Spread jam mixture over the brie before cooking and proceed with Step 3.
  • Spicy Peach: In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup peach jam, 1/4 teaspoon chili flakes, and 1/4 cup chopped pecans. Spread jam mixture over the brie before cooking and proceed with Step 3.

Recipe Notes

  • To re-warm the cheese, cover with lid (knob lifted) and microwave for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
