Toasting takes breadcrumbs to a whole new level, bringing out a nutty flavor. Use them as a crispy coating for chicken or fish, a crunchy topping for salads, or atop mac and cheese and casseroles. Our version skips the oil, making it a quicker, healthier option than the pan or the oven.
All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwave and home kitchens to make sure they work— and work well. Unless specified otherwise, all recipes should be cooked at full power.

The Small Dish
This dish’s superpower is evenly heating leftovers and cooking small portions.
The Anyhand Mitts
Handle hot Anyday dishes with care with these microwave mitts that double as trivets!
Ingredients
- ½ cup (35g) panko breadcrumbs
Preparation
- Place the panko crumbs in the Anyday dish and cook uncovered for 1-2 minutes in 30-second intervals, stirring well each time. If you like your breadcrumbs darker, add more time in 15-second intervals after the first 1-2 minutes.
- Allow breadcrumbs to cool completely, then save for up to 30 days in an airtight container or simply place the lid on the Anyday with the knob down to ensure freshness.
Serving suggestions & tips
- Once cool, season with garlic powder and dry parsley for Italian-style breadcrumbs.
- Toss toasted breadcrumbs with a few sunflower or pumpkin seeds for a quick soup or salad topping.
- Mix with shredded cheese right before using and use to top mac and cheese, vegetables, or casseroles.
Recipe notes
- Save the breadcrumbs for up to 3 months in an air-tight container.
- Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
