It’s never too early to introduce superfoods like quinoa to your baby’s diet once they start solids. The seed is the base for this easily digestible, fruity puree. Peach and raspberry add sweetness and tang for a complete range of flavor.

All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwave and home kitchens to make sure they work— and work well. Unless specified otherwise, all recipes should be cooked at full power.

To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Dish

The Medium Deep Dish

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons white quinoa
  • ¼ cup (60ml) water
  • ½ (75g) medium peach, peeled and sliced
  • ½ cup (60g) raspberries, fresh or frozen

Preparation

  1. Add the quinoa and water to the Anyday dish and mix well. Cover with lid (knob lifted).
  2. Cook in the microwave at Power Level 7tooltip for 10 minutes, or until quinoa is nearly cooked through.
  3. Add the peach and raspberries. Cover and cook on Power Level 7tooltip for 2 minutes, or until the peaches are tender when pierced with a fork. Let cool for 2 minutes with the lid still on.
  4. Using an immersion blender or blender, puree until the mixture is as chunky or smooth as you like.

Serving suggestions & tips

  • Adjust the power level by 1 as needed — increase if it’s taking longer than expected, or decrease if it’s bubbling over.
  • Feed just as a puree on its own, or mix it with some cooked rice or other grains if you’re starting on chunky foods.
  • Also great served with chunks of fish, chicken, or turkey.

Recipe notes

  • Freeze the porridge in the Anytime Freezer Trays and freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat as needed.
  • Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
