Ground beef is simmered in ketchup, tomato puree, Worcestershire sauce, and spices for a sweet, tangy, saucy meal that's barely contained by the hamburger buns. - ¼ small yellow onion (30g), finely chopped
- ¼ (30g) medium bell pepper (any color), finely chopped
- 8 oz (225g) lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 2 tablespoons tomato purée
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 burger buns
- Add onion, bell pepper, ground beef, and oil to the Anyday dish and stir to combine. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
- Cook for 2 minutes in the microwave, or until meat is cooked through and vegetables have softened.
- Add the garlic powder, salt, pepper, ketchup, tomato purée, worcestershire sauce, and the cornstarch and stir well, making sure to break up the ground beef into small pieces.
- Cover and continue cooking in the microwave for 4 minutes, stirring halfway through. Serve in burger buns and enjoy.
Serving suggestions & tips
- Top the sloppy joes with coleslaw for some crunch and freshness.
- Add taco seasoning for a quick taco salad topping.
- Add hot sauce at the end for a spicy sloppy joe filling.
- Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
