Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ¼ cup (60ml) heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 bunch kale or Swiss chard, tough center and stem removed and cut into ribbons (between 100-150g)
- ¼ teaspoon chili flakes, optional
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Preparation
- Add the butter, garlic, salt, pepper, chili flakes, cream, and cornstarch to an Anyday dish. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
- Cook in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, or until the liquid thickens. Stir or whisk until fully incorporated.
- Add greens in batches, stirring into the sauce slowly to coat. Pack greens tightly into the dish — they will shrink as they cook!
- Cover and continue cooking for 4-5 minutes, (stirring halfway through), or until greens are tender. Stir again, and enjoy while warm.
Serving suggestions & tips
- Make it vegan: Use plant-based butter and coconut milk for a creamy, dairy-free alternative.
- Sweet cranberry addition: Stir in dried cranberries for a hint of sweetness that balances the rich creaminess.
- Aromatic seasoning: Season with a pinch of ground coriander, cardamom, and cumin for a warm, aromatic twist.
- Crispy bacon topping: Sprinkle crispy bacon bits on top for a savory crunch that adds a smoky contrast to the creamy kale.
- White bean boost: Stir in canned white beans for extra creaminess and protein.
