To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Serving suggestions & tips

  • Tart cherry blondies: Replace walnuts with dried tart cherries for a delightful burst of tartness and a unique flavor combination.
  • Espresso blondies: Stir ½ teaspoon of instant coffee into the batter for a rich treat with a hint of espresso flavor.
  • Brown butter blondies: Use brown butter instead of melted butter for a deep, nutty flavor.

All You Need to Know About Making Blondies in the Microwave

What are blondies?

A blondie is a delicious dessert bar similar to a brownie but without cocoa powder, resulting in a golden brown color and a rich, buttery flavor. These treats are perfect for those who enjoy a chewy, sweet snack with a caramel-like taste.

Can I make blondies in the microwave?

Yes, you can make blondies in the microwave! Use a Square dish to achieve even cooking and a perfect texture— and that classic square shape. Just prepare your batter directly in the dish, and microwave as directed. You’ll have delicious, gooey blondies in a fraction of the time it takes to bake them.

Can I make blondies ahead of time?

Absolutely! Blondies are great for making ahead. You can prepare them in advance and store them in the refrigerator or freezer until you're ready to enjoy them. Using an Anyday dish helps keep them fresh, thanks to the silicone-lined lid, and easy to warm up if needed.

How long do blondies last?

Blondies stay fresh for up to 3-4 days when stored in an Anyday dish at room temperature. For extended storage, keep them in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze them for up to 3 months. When ready to eat, warm the blondies in the microwave for 1-2 minutes from frozen and 15 seconds from the fridge.

Can I substitute some ingredients in blondies?

Yes, ingredient substitutions are easy with blondies. You can swap in different nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruits based on your preferences. Feel free to use light or dark brown sugar for a chewier texture and deeper caramel tones. Check out our serving suggestions for more tasty alternatives.

How do I know when the blondies are done?

Your blondies are done when the batter has a smooth, slightly matte surface and the center is set but still a bit soft. Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center—if it comes out with a few moist crumbs, they’re ready.

How do I prevent blondies from sticking to the dish?

To prevent blondies from sticking, line your Square dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal. This simple step guarantees a hassle-free release and easy cleanup.
