To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

The Medium Deep Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 15oz can (425g) of canned black beans, drained
  • 1 (25g) jalapeño, seeded and diced
  • ¾ cup (230g) vegetable stock (or chicken stock)
  • teaspoons chipotle adobo purée
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • salt, to taste

Preparation

  1. Combine all ingredients in the Anyday dish. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
  2. Cook in the microwave for 10 minutes, or until ingredients are fork-tender and the liquid is slightly thickened.
  3. Using an immersion blender, blend all ingredients until they are as smooth or as chunky as you like.

Serving suggestions & tips

  • Garnish with sour cream, avocado, freshly chopped cilantro, a squeeze of lime, or cotija cheese!
  • Add shredded chicken or silken tofu for a protein-packed meal.
  • Try the soup with kidney beans or cannellini beans for great results
