Packed with nutrients, this is a great meal for all food stages. We use cod for its mild taste and abundance of vitamins B and D. Pureed with baby-friendly staples of peas and carrots, this is a meal you’ll be adding to your baby’s weekly rotation.

All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwave and home kitchens to make sure they work—, and work well. Unless specified otherwise, all recipes should be cooked at full power.

To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Dish

The Medium Deep Dish

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (60g) baby carrots, halved
  • 3 oz (85g) cod fillet, cut into medium chunks
  • ½ cup (60g) frozen peas
  • 2 tablespoons water, chicken stock, or vegetable stock
  • salt, to taste

Preparation

  1. Add the carrots and water to the Anyday dish. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
  2. Cook in the microwave for 3-4 minutes, or until carrots are almost tender when pierced with a fork.
  3. Add the peas and cod. Cover and cook for 1-2 minutes, until the cod is flaky and cooked through.
  4. Using an immersion blender or blender, puree until the mixture is as smooth or chunky as you like. Season to taste.

Serving suggestions & tips

  • Feed just as a puree on its own, or mix it with some cooked rice or other grains if you’re starting on chunky foods.
  • Also great served with chunks of fish, chicken, or turkey.

Recipe notes

  • Freeze the porridge in the Anytime Freezer Trays and freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat as needed.
  • Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
