To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Dish

The Medium Deep Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 (340g) medium sweet potato, peeled and diced in medium chunks
  • ¼ cup (60ml) water, chicken stock, or vegetable stock
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon breast milk or formula (optional)

Preparation

  1. Place all the ingredients except the milk into the Anyday dish. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
  2. Cook in the microwave for 9 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are very soft when pierced with a fork.
  3. Using an immersion blender or blender, puree until the mixture is as smooth or chunky as you like. If using breast milk or formula, add it during the blending process. Season as you see fit.

Suggestions

  • Add some butter for more flavor.
  • Feed just as a puree on its own, or mix it with some cooked rice or other grains if you’re starting on chunky foods.
  • Also great served with chunks of fish, chicken, or turkey.

Recipe Notes

  • Freeze the puree in the 1/2 Cup Anytime Freezer Trays and reheat as needed.
  • Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
