To find your microwave’s wattage, look at the front panel, the side of the door, in the back, in the user manual, or Google the model number. If both an input and output wattage are listed, use the output.

Wattage translates to how powerful the microwave is. The higher the wattage, the faster your food will cook. The lower the wattage, the longer the cook time.

When in doubt, start with less time — you can always add more.

Dish

The Medium Deep Dish

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (150g) broccoli, medium florets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • ½ clove garlic, minced
  • teaspoons red wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste

Preparation

  1. Place the broccoli in an Anyday dish and rinse thoroughly under cold tap water. Using the Anyday Strainer, strain the excess water.
  2. After straining, add the oil, ginger, garlic, and salt in the Anyday dish. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
  3. Cook in the microwave for 3 minutes, or until broccoli is vibrant green and just tender.
  4. Add red wine vinegar and sesame seeds and toss thoroughly to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Suggestions

  • Add slivered or toasted almonds for an added crunch.
  • When cooled, this salad makes a nice side dish for a picnic.
  • Try sesame oil instead of olive oil.

Recipe Notes

  • If using frozen broccoli, add it to the Anyday still frozen and cook for the same amount of time.
  • Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
