We love a warm salad, and this one is no exception. Broccoli stays crunchy yet tender in the microwave, and a simple dressing and sprinkle of sesame seeds brings it to the next level.
All of Anyday’s recipes are tested (and retested!) in many different microwave and home kitchens to make sure they work— and work well. Unless specified otherwise, all recipes should be cooked at full power.

The Strainer

The Anyhand Mitts
Handle hot Anyday dishes with care with these microwave mitts that double as trivets!
Ingredients
- 2 cups (150g) broccoli, medium florets
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- ½ clove garlic, minced
- 1½ teaspoons red wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
Preparation
- Place the broccoli in an Anyday dish and rinse thoroughly under cold tap water. Using the Anyday Strainer, strain the excess water.
- After straining, add the oil, ginger, garlic, and salt in the Anyday dish. Cover with the lid (knob lifted).
- Cook in the microwave for 3 minutes, or until broccoli is vibrant green and just tender.
- Add red wine vinegar and sesame seeds and toss thoroughly to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.
Serving suggestions & tips
- Add slivered or toasted almonds for an added crunch.
- When cooled, this salad makes a nice side dish for a picnic.
- Try sesame oil instead of olive oil.
Recipe notes
- If using frozen broccoli, add it to the Anyday still frozen and cook for the same amount of time.
- Microwave ovens vary, even with the same wattages. Adjust cooking times as needed.
