What is Tiramisu?
Tiramisu is a classic Italian dessert made with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, creamy mascarpone cheese, and cocoa powder. Our recipe updates the classic by using a homemade, microwave “baked” cake instead of ladyfingers, adding a fresh twist to this beloved treat.
Can I make tiramisu sheet cake in the microwave?
Yes, you can! Using a Square dish, you can easily make a light and tender cake that holds up beautifully under the filling and soaker. Using an Anyday allows you to cook, assemble and serve all in the same dish. Cover the Anyday with the lid and take this dessert to any potluck or party!
Can I use regular coffee instead of instant coffee in the soaker?
Absolutely. You can substitute instant coffee with regular brewed coffee in the soaker. Just adjust the quantity to achieve your preferred strength of coffee flavor, or use espresso for an even bolder taste.
How long should I let the cake cool before adding the filling and soaker?
Allow the cake to cool for approximately 5 minutes before adding the filling and soaker. This brief cooling period helps the cake set properly. After adding the filling and soaker, place the dessert in the fridge to chill and develop its flavors.
Can I substitute mascarpone cheese with another type of cheese?
Yes, you can use sour cream, crème fraîche, or ricotta in place of mascarpone. Keep in mind that these substitutions may slightly alter the flavor and texture.
How far in advance can I make the Tiramisu Sheet Cake before serving?
You can prepare the Tiramisu Sheet Cake 1-2 days in advance. Always make sure the cake is made at least 3 hours before serving to let the flavors meld, then cover the Anyday dish with its lid and refrigerate until ready to serve.
